Dr. Heather Steede

Associate

My goal from a very young age was to be a veterinarian. My family was always extremely supportive and I was volunteering with local shelters cleaning cages by the time I was 8 yrs old. I have always felt it was important to help those without a voice and following graduation from the Ontario Veterinary College I soon started working at the Downtown Animal Hospital. Over the last 15 years at this clinic I have been blessed to care for and develop great relationships not only with amazing patients but with their equally wonderful owners.

I have a full house of my own and as such understand how much our pets mean to us. Our herd of 5 have all come into our household under different circumstances and together they make up our family. In my spare time there is always an outdoor adventure of some sort taking place and the dogs are almost always there and ready for whatever the day may bring. Whether it be canoeing, swimming, hiking or a good old road trip, they tag along while the cats hold down the fort at home.

I feel very strongly about rescue and volunteer a lot of time with a local dog rescue. This is how we ended up with one of the furry beasts in our herd. After bottle feeding him 24/7 from the time he was only a few days old there was no way we couldn’t keep him.

Knowing that I make a difference not only to my patients but to the humans that love them is why I do what I do.

Pets I currently own: Sully (chihuahua), Sai (Dracula), Suki (the third shi tzu on the tree stump), Dundas (black and white cat), Linwood (Siamese mix).
